CCI Newsletter Nov.2019

Thanks to your prayers and supports, CCI went through the great season of summer in this year, and as moving toward the end of the year, we are very grateful for God's love and grace.

Starting Point I

Starting Point is a CCI’s workforce development and self-sufficiency program for needed young adults to be equipped with career- and life-readiness skills.

In July 2019, CCI hosted 4 aged-out orphans from S. Korea to the States.

They are currently in college and at work, and they previously went through the “Dream-Fulfillment Program” with CCI. Through the program, each of them made a journey to find his or her dream and hope; thankfully, they all made it to where they had wanted and hoped to get to. To help them solidify and grow their dreams and hopes, CCI re-hosted them the States this year, offering English language training, cultural experience, and Transforming Impossible Into Possible (TIP)® program for a full month. It’s our 5th year celebrating “Make Good Things Happen” with these Shinmangwon children!

Starting Point II

In August 2019, upon signing MOU with Handong Global University (Handong Institute for Peace and Reconciliation) in Korea on preparation to grow and develop next-generation leaders for Korean reunification, CCI hosted 4 North Korean defector students at Handong Global University to the Metro Atlanta area for a month-long program. They were on English language training, cultural experience, and Transforming Impossible Into Possible (TIP)® program by CCI, and they also had chances to give speeches as guest speakers at various non-profit organizations and agencies. It’s our first time to host North Korean young adults to the States since CCI began working on North Korean Child Welfare Act of 2012 (HR 1464).

CCI-FL Trunkshow

There was a fundraising event for CCI’s Starting Point Program from July 11th to 14th in Portland, Oregon. It was CCI-FaithLilli Trunkshow, and it’s been over three years now that FaithLilli helps CCI through its very unique trunkshows. It’s our 3rd year to have this wonderful event, and so far, there have been trunkshows in California, Oregon, New York, Georgia, and in S. Korea.

CCI-MOT (Medical Outreach Team)

CCI began talking about mission trip in 2018, and finally earlier this year with the strong support from our board and members, a special team within CCI was formed. It’s CCI-MOT, Medical Outreach Team, consisting of several dentists and dental assistants. With prayerful preparations and numerous meetings, CCI-MOT finally made it to Cité Soleil, Port-au-Prince, Haiti on September 23, 2019. All together 10 members of CCI-MOT stayed for a week for dental care mission trip for the local Haitian. Over 440 people were served during CCI-MOT’s trip.
